Plastic Pipe Facts™

Utah, Huntington-Cleveland Salinity Control Project (HCSCP):

The HCSCP is a massive irrigation and salt control project that is being implemented over a number of years in the central and southern Utah.   A number of HDPE pipe failures were documented in a 2008 presentation at Plastic Pipes XIV in Budapest, Hungary.   The presentation cites that large diameter valve placement “proved challenging” with stress creating “high torque” on HDPE pipes that in some cases failed.  Pressure tests also resulted in failures of pipe and fusion joints.
